Nick Heidfeld’s weekend in Paris didn’t get off to the best of starts. An error in qualifying saw him slide into the barrier, and then collide with Venturi’s Mike Conway as he rejoined the racing line.
“I did a mistake in qualifying which meant that we had to start last and from there it was very difficult on the circuit to overtake.”
He managed to battle his way up to finish 12th, just outside the points.
However Heidfeld won the spoils of the fastest lap in the closing stages of the race.
“Finishing 12th was okay, but getting the fastest lap was good because it shows to the outside the potential we have, the potential the team has. We got a small trophy, which is always nice, and two points.”
“I think I can go home with a small smile on my face.”
Mahindra have been intermittently strong recently, with the team’s best ever result in Long Beach and good performances in practice sessions. How excited is Heidfeld for his home ePrix?
“Of course, very excited. Berlin was great fun last year, there were lots of fans there and it was fantastic atmosphere.
“I think it was a good location, but because I like to drive on different circuits, for me it’s the best it can be. It’s the home ePrix in Germany but on a different circuit, so I’m very much looking forward to it.”
The Berlin ePrix returns on Saturday 21st May.
