Speedy Senna and teammate Heidfeld were running quick all weekend, but were disqualified from qualifying for illegal tyres pressures.
Senna started and finished in 15th place, but scored two points for the Fastest Lap of the Race.
Talking about his disqualification, Senna said, ‘We had too low tyre pressures. It didn’t gain us anything. The car was stopped a long time before Super Pole, so there was a small mistake. Rules are rules and we were disqualified.
‘We had a good pace, we quick in both practice sessions, and I was second quickest overall in qualifying. I was confident I could do fastest lap [in the race], so I went for it.’
Senna had to make an unscheduled pit stop early in the race.
‘In the first lap I was next to another car and he was being very aggressive for absolutely no reason. I had to avoid him breaking in to turn five and I hit the other car. Just one of those things, in the first laps everyone is going for the same place and then I had to replace front wing.’
Thoughts now turn towards London, and Senna is hopeful for another strong showing around Battersea Park.
‘Last year I had my best result there. I know that we can be at the front and today, looking at our race performance – when we eventually got going – we were as fast as the leaders. For sure we can have a very strong race.’
On deals and plans for season three, Senna was vague in his answer.
‘Not yet, looking at all the options and hopefully we get a good one.’
The London ePrix take place on 2nd and 3rd July.
