Abt finished second ahead of team mate Lucas di Grassi
Daniel Abt is having a great week. He was confirmed for season three at his current team, and achieved his best ever finish at his home ePrix.
‘Yes, absolutely I’m happy. Fantastic race, P2 at my home race. I seem more happy than Sebastien!’
Abt has been very vocal recently on Twitter about FanBoost, but in the end he didn’t need any help, and finishing second made up for not winning.
‘I was pushing for FanBoost, I wanted to have it. Not that I needed it for the race, but also for some prestige – in your home race you want to win FanBoost. In the end, today it would not have change anything and it was good without it.’
Abt’s teammate Lucas Di Grassi finished behind him, though many expected the team to swap the drivers as Di Grassi fights for the Championship. Abt confirmed in the Press Conference that he tried to let Di Grassi through in the penultimate lap of the race, but come the final lap was wary of the threat from Prost and losing a podium position.
Di Grassi later added he is not a fan of team orders, and didn’t want Abt to relinquish his position.
Looking ahead to London, Abt is looking to push hard again.
‘London is going to be tricky. It’s a very tricky circuit, you can easily do a mistake there. The weather is going to play a role like it did last year. But I think at the moment our car is strong obviously we have still two championships to win and we’re going to go for it.’
The London ePrix take place on 2nd and 3rd of July.
