London ePrix preview: Sam Bird

Sam Bird can technically win the Championship. However to do so he has to take pole position, fastest lap, and the win, and that Sebastien Buemi and Lucas Di Grassi are nowhere to be seen. Twice.

A bit of an ask, then.

‘To be honest, I’m just trying to secure third in the Championship,’ said Bird in the Friday press conference.

The Battersea Park circuit offers up a unique set of challenges – with trees playing a larger role than one might expect.

‘If it rains and dries everywhere, it will still be damp in sector two under the trees. So you’ll have wet and dry patches of the track, which will be tricky.’

‘Also there’s very little room for error this year, as some of the barriers are even closer to the kerbs, so that will be challenging.’

The London ePrix kicks off tomorrow at 4pm, with the final round of the Championship on Sunday at 4pm.
