Bruno Senna enjoyed his best ever performance around the track this time last year, but smashed that result with his second place finish.
‘I’m very happy. We had a good car and good pace. I was trying to keep some energy back, trying not to take too much risk but going hard at the same time. The safety car put us on the back foot a little bit but ultimately it was a good race. The team did a really good job, I had no problems today.
‘So many times we’ve had the potential [to finish on the podium] but it’s never materialised, and this time everyone did a good job.’
Senna was in the second qualifying group, who managed to get out before the rain started in earnest.
‘The weather put a lot of people in different positions but even in the dry people were crashing, so it’s not guaranteed your car is going to be in front. Qualifying is always tricky here, pushing to the limit on a track that doesn’t forgive. Tomorrow we take the experience we have from today and do it better. Everyone will improve but we have something left in the tank.’
The final race of the season gets underway on Sunday at 4pm
