“The objective personally and within the team is to win. We know it won’t be easy as there is very strong competition from the other teams and drivers, but I will be giving it my all to get the first win of the season for the team.”

The NextEV team struggled with its 2015/16 challenger and finished bottom of the Constructors’ championship. However preseason testing has given early indications that the team have made significant improvements.

“The NextEV team has worked extremely hard on the new season three car. We completed some productive private testing in Spain to learn and understand the new car’s performance and feel we have made a significant step forwards from last year.”

“After seeing the large effort put into the team by NextEV since it took over the new car design, it was an easy decision to re-sign with them in the Formula E Championship. Martin Leach gave me the first opportunity to race in the series and as we both have similarly high ambitions I wanted to be able to continue our journey together.”

The first race of the season takes place this Sunday, and Turvey is looking forward to seeing what Hong Kong has to offer.

“The Hong Kong ePrix circuit looks like an exciting one, with a number of quick flowing corners as well as a long straight offering overtaking opportunities. The location of the circuit next to the waterfront in Hong Kong should make for a spectacular event.”

The Hong Kong ePrix begins at 9am on Sunday 9th October. Coverage starts at 8:30am on Channel 5
